Gruyere Burger

Updated: Jan 29, 2023

Do you even need a bun if the burger is this good?

My answer is no... but it can also be served on a bun of your choice. This recipe is also how I make my turkey burgers!

Ingredients

  • Ground beef or turkey (around 500-600 grams)

  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1/4 onion ,chopped

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tablespoons panko breadcrumbs

  • 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese

  • Handful of shredded Gruyere cheese

Directions

Mix all ingredients together and form into 5-6 patties (may differ based on size of patty and meat). If they're too loose, add more panko and parmesan cheese. Keep some shredded Gruyere left to top the burgers at the end but you can add as much as you want into the burger. Bake in the oven at 375 for 20- 25 minutes and flip halfway. If not cooked, keeping checking at 5-10 minute internals until done. When the burgers are just about finished, put on broil for 2-3 minutes and add some extra shredded gruyere on top to melt.

Serve with your favorite toppings!

I like to top mine with tomatoes, spinach, pickled red onions and a yogurt sauce.

Yogurt Sauce ingredients

  • 3-4 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 small garlic clove, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon mustard Seed

  • Juice of half a lemon

Mix together and add to the top of your burger. You can adjust all ingredients to taste depending on what consistency you like!
